I was recently asked a question that caught me so off guard..."Have you observed any discriminatory behavior in your workplace?" I actually started nodding my head to indicate "No," and then realized that was just not the case. Now, perhaps it was dealt with swiftly or perhaps it wasn't that severe but a definitive "No" would have been deceptive. It made me wonder how many people if asked that question, would be able to give a definitive "No" response. And the more, I turned it over in my head the more expansive it got. The first thing that jumped in my head, a problem in and of itself, was race. The Equal Employment Opportunity laws go far beyond race, covering several areas of discrimination.
