Romney protests with group of students counter-picketing a group of students who had staged a sit-in to oppose draft measures.
SourceMitt Romney has five sons. Between candidate Mitt Romney and his five sons there is not one hour of military of service on the table. As a 20-year retired veteran and voter, that matters to me.
Romney participated in a pro-war rally during his undergraduate year at Stanford (he later transferred to Brigham Young University after his two Mormon missionary years in France). The coverage included a photo of Romney picketing against anti-war students who were protesting the cooperation of the Stanford University administration with the draft process at the time. It wasn't enough to evade the war, this young Romney worked to ensure others could not. As the child of a 30-year disabled Vietnam Veteran who died of service-connected disabilities, that matters to me. As the middle-class parent of a draft-age child, that bothers me.
Mitt Romney wants to be the Commander-in-Chief of our military. As an American citizen and voter, that really, really bothers me.
